100% organic cotton & recycled materials
Only 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton and recycled polyester are used for all Hertie School textiles.
In contrast to conventional cotton, the cultivation of organic cotton does not use chemical insecticides, fertilizers and pesticides, which are harmful to farmers and the environment. This means that no dangerous or toxic substances are introduced into the ground, neighboring rivers or lakes. This ensures a safe environment and health for farmers and their families.
Fair & environmentally friendly working conditions
The Hertie School uses textiles from STANLEY/STELLA, a member of the Fair Wear Foundation, for its products.
The textiles are made in Bangladesh. The producing factories are among the most responsible factories in the country with the highest ethical standards. By supporting the textile industry in Bangladesh, STANLEY/STELLA contributes to improving economic conditions in the country and to the social advancement of the workforce. As an independent organization, the Fair Wear Foundation inspects local factories and supports unions in continually improving working conditions.
All producing factories are GOTS certified. The GOTS seal is the world's leading standard for the processing of fabrics made from organic natural fibers. It defines high-level environmental and social criteria that must be adhered to along the entire textile production chain.
Local textile printing
Hertie School textiles are screen printed locally in Berlin. The screen printing process guarantees high and long-lasting print quality. OEKO-TEX® certified colors are used for the prints. OEKO-TEX® is an independent product label for materials of all kinds that have been tested for harmful substances. Materials receive the OEKO-TEX® label if they have been successfully checked for chemicals that are harmful to health based on the extensive OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog.
